Welcome to 7th Grade Reading!

To say that I am excited to begin the 2017-2018 school year would be an understatement! This is my fifth year at Comfort ISD, and I absolutely love the kids of this community!

About Me
This will be my 13th year as a classroom teacher, having taught high school, middle school, and elementary. In 1999, I graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelors of Science in Education. I spent 5 years teaching at Centerville High School and Buffalo Junior High (and working rodeos in my spare time around Central Texas) before meeting my husband, who dragged me kicking and screaming to the Hill Country. . . I'm sure glad he did!

My husband and I lived in Kerrville for several years, where I taught at Ingram Elementary and Hal Peterson Middle School. We moved to Kendall County 10 years ago and have 2 wonderful boys, ages 12 and 6, who keep us on our toes. I enjoy nature and camping and spending quality time with family.

Week of 11-30 Text Structure

We will be finishing up Text Structure this week. Students will have an assessment on Friday.

Each week, students are responsible for reading articles from Tween Tribune, an online current events/news. Each article has a quiz associated with it. If students do not have internet at home, they have been made aware that these can be done during tutorials, as the articles and quizzes are short.
General reading classes: 4 articles/week
Honors reading classes: 5 articles/week

Outline for Week of 9/8

Links to poems that we will be analyzing this week can be located in the assignments for each class page.

Test over Comparing poetry, Lyrics, Concrete, and Haiku: Thursday, Sept 10th

Students should be reading nightly 20 or more minutes. Summaries due each Monday.
