Mrs. Walden’s 7th grade Science September 2016
We began the month where student’s design and implement an investigation in order to understand the effects of photosynthesis on plants. They presented posters on Photosynthesis, the Flow of Energy in an Ecosystem, Food Chains and Food Webs.
They also demonstrated the Energy Pyramid physically; showing that energy starts from the plants (ground) through to the top consumers (carnivores).
Then, students investigate situations in which work is being done with different amounts of force to situations where no work is done; such as moving a block using a spring scale with a ramp, without a ramp and standing still.
Then, students investigate how force, motion, and energy are observed in living systems and the environment using plants; direction of seedling growth, turgor pressure, and geotropism.
